William Hamilton McFadden, of Palm Desert, passed away on Sept. 3, 2015. He died of natural causes after battling cancer and diabetes. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and is survived by his four children, two step-children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was 88 years old.
McFadden grew up in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, and graduated from the University of British Columbia. He did his graduate studies at University of Utah and Cornell University. Dr. McFadden was well known in the field of analytical chemistry and scientific instrumentation, and authored books in the field of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s Episcopal Church, 428 Park Ave., in Laguna Beach.
