Parents meet school leaders, learn value of critical thinking
Parents are invited to join the first PTA-sponsored parent education Coffee Break on Wednesday, Sept. 21, to meet district leaders and hear from expert Dr. Enoch Hale about the importance of developing higher-level thinking skills.
Coffee Breaks this year are being held at Aliso Creek Inn and Golf Courseat 8:15 a.m. and cost $10.
Critical thinking refers to higher-order thinking that questions assumptions. The ability to discriminate among underlying assumptions and larger contextual issues is ever more important as more of our knowledge-base is accessible via computer.
Dr. Hale will be giving an insightful presentation on incorporating such thinking into school curriculums as well as how parents can develop these skills at home.
