Marissa Greenough became the first senior from the 2012 Breakers volleyball squad with firm indoor plans for 2013 as the three-year varsity player committed to Erskine College, Due West, S.C. The Division II school is part of a 12-member Carolina conference, one of the few leagues that offers competition in both men’s and women’s volleyball.
While visiting Erskine in November during their conference semi-finals, Marissa met with the school’s top administrators and athletic director. The official Letter of Intent signing date for volleyball is April 17.
“I could see myself in a Flying Fleet uniform,” she said. “I am excited to continue my volleyball career, and look forward to competing at the NCAA Division II level.” The senior weighed offers from several schools, including Cal State University East Bay in Hayward, Calif. She is playing club this spring for Mission Viejo 18-Adidas.
Marissa is the daughter of Jeff and April Greenough.
