Marsha Bianchi carried the Laguna Beach Independent on a five-day backpacking trip on the Rae Lakes Loop Trail, a portion of the John Muir Trail, into the back country of spectacular Kings Canyon National Park. She took this image at the highest point, 11,978-foot Glen Pass, during last year’s Labor Day weekend. Her ascent started at 5,035 feet.
Locals Beth and Steve Wood visited Raja Ampat in West Papua, Indonesia, where they recorded music for Greg MacGillivrey’s film “Journey To The South Pacific.” “We brought along a copy of the Indy so it could experience life one-second south of the equator.”
