Laguna Beach-based artist Jacobus Baas will premiere 35 new oils this Saturday, May 16, in his show “Chasing The Light” at Pacific Edge Gallery, 540 S Coast Hwy. There will be an artist reception open to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. and the show will continue through June 30.

Painting on location in Hawaii, Maine, and Southern California, the artist has created a luminous collection of landscapes and seascapes, each with the subtle mastery he is known for.

Artists Raise Funds for Sea Mammals

Cove Gallery’s 14 local artists have donated water themed pieces for a special silent auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 16, to raise money for the Pacific Marine Mammal Center.

Half the proceeds will go to the center, which made national news last week because of a chlorine attack on its recuperating rescues in Laguna Canyon. A center representative will make a short presentation at the event, 1492 S. Coast Highway.
