Wynne Tapley was born on Dec. 17, 1936, in Manchester, England.

In her early years in England, she remembers the WWII bombings and spending time in a bomb shelter.

Her love of dancing started in high school while she was a member of a traveling dance group that would perform venues all over England. In her later years, she loved watching “Dancing With The Stars.”

Tapley came to America in 1980 and lived in Laguna for 30 years. She often shared that her time in California were “the best years of my life.” During her time in Laguna, she was part of the westie walking group, a sisterhood and four westies and also formed many long-lasting friendships, her new family in America. These westie walks and talks became a daily ritual.

Tapley was an expert about westies and during her time in America she raised three altogether: Ted, Mcdougal and Clyde Most of her pets were trained therapy dogs and she would often visit nursing homes and Mission Hospital and this brought great comfort and joy to the patients. She was very proud of her time as a volunteer at the Susi Q Senior Center and was praised for her dedication.

Tapley returned to England in 2012 to be closer to her daughter, grandson and extended family. At 76, she ventured out to Brighton’s Apple store and learned how to use an iPad. Several of her friends in California had the joyful opportunity to visit her in England and these memories will be cherished always. Although she was far in distance she remained close in our hearts and was in close contact with all of us until her sudden death on April 27, 2016. Farewell to our soul sister and beloved friend. She will live in our hearts forever.

On a happier note, we are rejoicing with the news of Clyde’s return to Laguna Beach where he will join his clan of westie friends and family. When you spot us on our walks, please wave “hello.”
