Baseball
Cutter Clawson’s recent selection in Baseball’s Amateur Draft by the Washington Nationals made this year’s outstanding senior only the third Laguna player ever drafted directly off the high school team. Clawson joins Greg Kessler (1971) and Danny Lane (1988) with this honor. Cutter plans to continue his playing career at BYU and could be re-drafted after his collegiate career, as Lane was out of UCSB.

Spring All-County Selections
Congratulations to Geste Bianchi (JR) on being a first team all-county pick by the Orange County Register, the 29th Laguna boys volleyball player so honored since 1980. Also gaining county-wide honors was Cutter Clawson, a third team pick for baseball.
Coaching Openings
Doug Mauro has stepped down from boys indoor volleyball after a two-year run with a 17-14 overall record and a Top 10 Orange County ranking this season, including seeded 12th overall in the Southern Section despite an 0-6 4th place finish in the ultra-competitive Sunset Surf League. Mauro will be leaving the cupboard full with a very talented returning team, and he will stay on as head coach of the successful Laguna boys sand volleyball team.
Also out is softball coach James Crawford, who leaves after three seasons with a 26-40-2 record, including a 7-13 run this past season. The highlight of this past season was the squad’s 7-6 victory over Corona del Mar in what turned out to be Crawford’s last with the Breakers.
The third coaching opening is in girls lacrosse, which has been open since midseason this past spring.
