An elderly driver escaped injury Friday, Aug. 16 despite having crashed her car onto the first floor of a Laguna Beach apartment building at 235 Lower Cliff Dr. at 11:44 a.m., Laguna Beach police said.
The driver, who was not further identified, had to be cut from the car because of extensive damage, said Capt. Jason Kravetz. Two hours after the collision, police were still on the scene trying to remove the vehicle.
Preliminary investigation indicates that she possibly hit the gas instead of the brakes and went through the barrier, Kravetz said.
