Artistic Partners Share Fringe Benefits

The benefits and challenges of creating work together will be discussed by Betty Haight and Stephanie Cunningham who have been Festival of Art exhibitors for six years. The discussion takes place from 12-1 p.m., Thursday, July 31 at the Festival of Arts grounds, 650 Laguna Canyon Rd.

Tickets are $4-$7 for each talk.

The newest show at the Festival of Arts’ satellite gallery, foaSouth, displays “Marks on the Land: Aerial Photography by Tom Lamb” through Oct. 10.

Through his acclaimed aerial photographs with an environmental focus, the long-time Festival of Arts exhibitor and board member captures unexpected views of the land.

The gallery is located inside Active Culture, 1006 S. Coast Highway at Anita Street.

 

 

Plein Air Painters Offer Mentors

Jeff Horn, a member of the Laguna Plein Aire Painters Association, will offer advice and critique to artists who may join him painting outdoors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, July 25, at Treasure Island Park, 30801 S. Coast Hwy.

Members will hold discussions with attendees and offer advice and critique work if asked.

 

Juried Contest Open to OC Artists

Orange County artists 18 and older are invited to enter a city art contest judged by Laguna College of Art and Design President Jonathan Burke. Work must be original and executed within the past two years and it cannot have been previously exhibited at City Hall. A non-refundable entry is required for up to three entries.

The deadline to submit images to lagunabeachcity.slideroom.com is Sept. 8. Artwork must be delivered to City Hall on Oct. 14. The exhibition runs Oct. 14 to Nov. 26. For more info: contact Sian Poeschl at [email protected].

 

Bluebelt Contest Focuses on the Coast

An exhibition of entries to the Laguna Bluebelt photography competition, “Life through the Lens” will be displayed through Sept. 10 at Gallery Q, in the Laguna Beach Community and Senior Center.

First time exhibitors include Laguna Bluebelt winners Jean Yves Couleaud, Sandy Dildine, Michelle Hoalton, Brittany Lockhart, Matt O’Brian, Brook Peterson, Dawn Marie Peterson-Davis, Kevin Roberts, Andrew Shutts, and Alicia Warwick, as well as Ann Coffee, Casie Garcia, Elwye Ess, Terri Fitzsimon, Patricia Patti, Terry Shoemaker, and Barbara Woolweaver.
