First Thursdays Art Walk happens Oct. 4, featuring a self-guided tour of gallery openings but also artist demonstrations, receptions and cultural energy. The event is free to the public and so is the trolley service.

Start out for a 5:30 p.m. happy hour in the lobby at the Inn at Laguna Beach located at 211 N. Coast Highway. At City Hall from 5-6 p.m. will be a special Art Walk member exhibition and reception at 515 Forest Ave. Another pre-art walk event starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Laguna Presbyterian Church’s outdoor display by contemporary artists and includes a photographic exhibit of the history of the church in the rose garden.

At any gallery pick up an Art Walk brochure that includes a map and a complete schedule of events.

Four new member galleries join this month’s Art Walk: Avran Art+ Design with unique evocative glass works, Laguna Ink Spot and Gallery with a variety of genres, Tangible Investments with turn-of-the century Art Nouveau and Art Deco paintings and Forest & Ocean Gallery devoted to photographic and ceramic arts.

At Studio 7 Gallery experience live painting demonstrations by resident artists. Visit saltfineart and see artists Ronald Moran and Pricilla Monge create a surreal environment, transforming the interior of saltfineart into a work of art. At 7 p.m., participate in the free event, “Conversation With…Russell Crotty” at the Laguna Art Museum.
