Backlash Builds Against Rehab Homes

Editor,

Please consider the dangers to residents that are being caused by detox houses in our community.

Rehab is certainly appropriate for people who need such services, but placing them in residential neighborhoods, near families and schools, is totally bad policy.

Home owners are making big bucks housing these people while neighbors are paying the price: heavy traffic and trash, harassment of children and families, “ticking time bombs” waiting to explode from illegal, inappropriate behaviors by former addicts.

Please stop allowing rehab homes in residential neighborhoods; they should be in commercial districts, away from family homes, children and schools.
