The Laguna squad clinched their first out-right Orange Coast League title with a pair of victories last week. On Tuesday, April 21, John Grayden shot a one-under round of 34 as the Breakers defeated Costa Mesa 194-265 at the Mesa Linda course in Costa Mesa. The following day, the Breakers edged Estancia 212-215 at Aliso Viejo as Grayden led all golfers with a 37.
The regular season play for 2015 wraps with Costa Mesa on Tuesday, April 28, and the league individuals are scheduled for May 4 and 5 at Skylinks in Long Beach. The Southern Section Southern Division Team tournament will be on Monday, May 18 at Mile Square Classic Course.
Breakers have now won eight league titles since 1952, winning the Orange League in 1956 and ‘57, Pacific Coast League titles in 1987 and ‘88, and share the Golden West/OCL titles in 2008, ‘09 and ‘10 before this year’s title.
