Breakers dominated the league individuals this past Thursday, May 3, at Saddleback High School as Mason Lebby defeated teammate Jake Hastings 6-1 to capture his second straight crown. Breaker players have taken 10 of the 12 Orange Coast League singles titles. Jake Hastings took third defeating teammate Andre Johnson.
In doubles, Laguna players Mohomad Berri/ Mathew Duong beat Kyle Herkins/Francis Pillsbury 6-1,5-7,6-2 for Laguna’s fifth straight doubles title.
Team CIF playoff brackets place Laguna seeded fourth. Breakers are hoping to make the finals for the fourth straight year. Play opened on Wednesday, May 9, with either Wilson/Hacienda Heights or La Mirada at Laguna. The second round is scheduled for Friday, May 11. Laguna is hoping to make it to the semifinals for a rematch with top-seed San Juan Hills. The Stallions edged the Breakers 10-8 a few weeks ago.
