Football (2-7, 0-4)
For the third time this season and the 101st time in the program’s 81 seasons, Laguna failed to score as Calvary won 40-0 to extend their domination in the series to 13-7-2.
The Eagles wasted little time scoring when on the second play of the game a short pass resulted in a 90-yard run for a touchdown. Calvary was held to three plays and a punt on their next possession but scored on a 6-play 67 yard drive late in the period. Both Laguna possessions held promise but stalled after 14 and 29 yards. Breakers continued to move the ball in the second period for 14, 16, and 26 yards while Calvary engineered a 10-play 70 yard drive for their score. Breakers best try ended on a fumble on the four yard line.
Eagles scored on both possession of the third period while the Breakers continued to sputter. The last game of the season is on Friday, November 6 with Godinez (3-1, 5-4) at Segerstrom High School. The Grizzlies will be out to revenge Laguna’s 31-7 thumping they took last season. Jack Simon will close out his career with his offensive numbers ranking among the best Laguna players ever.
