Children’s Hospital of Orange County has received a $100,000 donation from the Ueberroth Family Foundation to name a room on the fifth floor of a new patient care tower set to open in 2013.
The fifth floor will feature 28 identically equipped private rooms in order to reduce the spread of infection and minimize the potential for human error.
“CHOC is an important asset in our community that fulfills a critical need. We feel privileged to support the exciting construction of CHOC’s new tower,” said a statement from Ginny Ueberroth, who established the foundation in 1984 with her husband Peter, the same year he became the sixth commissioner of Major League Baseball. The couple reside in Laguna Beach.
The new tower incorporates advanced design and safety principles and will house advanced pediatric services, including an emergency department, operating rooms, laboratory, pathology and imaging services.
