Restocking Laguna’s Pantry

Providing food monthly for hundreds of local families, Laguna Food Pantry seeks public donations, promising that for every $10 donated, 120 pounds of food can be purchased and distributed to those in need.

To donate, visit lagunaresourcecenter.org or by mail: Laguna Resource Center, 20652 Laguna Canyon Road.

Tidepool Docents Needed

The Laguna Ocean Foundation’s Tide-Water Docent program is looking for volunteers to help educate residents and visitors about the ecology in Laguna’s protected tidepools.

Docents spend time at Crescent Bay, Shaw’s Cove, Hiesler Park, Wood’s Cove, Goff Island and Treasure Island, which are all part of the Laguna Beach State Marine Reserve.  To qualify as a docent, individuals must attend one formal hour-and-a-half training session as well as on-the-job field training at the tidepools led by a professional educator.

The next docent training will take place at Newport Beach’s Back Bay Science Center at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

The number of available positions is limited.  To sign up for the program or for more information, contact Jake Bonus at [email protected].
