City Council Opens Personnel Board Positions
The City Council of Laguna Beach is currently accepting applications to serve on the city’s Personnel Board. The board hears appeals relative to any disciplinary action, dismissal, demotion, and reduction in pay or suspension. It consists of three members who serve two-year terms that begin on Oct. 1 of odd-numbered years.
Residents of Laguna Beach who are interested should obtain an application from the City Clerk’s office or on-line on the city’s web site. All applications must be filed by Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 5 p.m. Applicants will be interviewed by the City Council at their regular meeting of Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. in the City Council chambers, located at 505 Forest Avenue.
Tickets on Sale for Million Dollar Home Raffle
Tickets are on sale now for the Laguna Beach Million Dollar Home Raffle for the chance to win a Laguna Beach home or $1 million in cash. The raffle benefits the Ocean Institute and Irvine Public Schools Foundation, among other non-profits.
Only 20,000 tickets will be sold for $150 each. Ticket holders have the chance to win over 250 prizes in addition to the grand prize. The deadline to enter for the first early bird drawing is midnight on Aug. 22.
Early Bird ticket buyers are provided additional chances to win extra prizes and cash while still qualifying for the grand prize drawing held Nov. 9 at the Ocean Institute. Multi-ticket holders qualify for bonus drawings for additional prizes including two new Lexus cars, dream vacations, sports events and shopping sprees.
