Concert Combines Music with Medicine

A concert intended to demonstrate the healing power of music is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Laguna Woods Clubhouse 3 Theatre, 23822 Avenida Sevilla.

The “Music Heals Project” is a collaboration between neurosurgeon Christopher Duma, founder of the Foundation for Neurosciences, Stroke and Recovery, and pianist composer Mike Garson, known for his work with rock acts.

Other performers include clarinetist Sang Yoon Kim, violinist Drew Tretick and saxophonist Samantha Shapiro among others.

Heroes Shine on Festival Night

The 10th annual My Hero International Film Festival takes place from 3-10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Ann and Jerry Moss Theater in the Herb Alpert Educational Village, 3131 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica.
