Laguna Beach High School senior Tyler Pierce received the good citizen award from the Daughters of the American Revolution and rode in the Patriot’s Day Parade as its honoree.

Pierce, a baseball player, also participated in a cultural exchange to Mississippi, where he visited Civil War battlegrounds.  He is also active in the OC Fire Authority’s Explorer program and intends to study fire protection engineering at the University of Maryland beginning this fall.

The DAR award is its highest honor to high school students and includes a monetary prize. The

Tyler was joined in the car by Gloria Padach former regent of Laguna’s Patient Wright chapter of DAR and current treasurer Lori Savit.

The Daughters of the American Revolution, founded in 1890, is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America’s future through better education.
