Laguna’s cultural art scene gears up for First Thursdays Art Walk on July 7, beginning with the city’s dedication of the sculpture “Breaching Whale” by Jon Seeman at 5 p.m., in Heisler Park at Rockpile Beach.

In galleries throughout town, visitors will see artists in action demonstrating their techniques, sharing their insights and answering questions. Get to all destinations, mostly open ‘til 9 p.m., by boarding a free trolley.

Meet contemporary impressionist artist David Chapple at DeRu’s Fine Arts. Enjoy a group landscape show featuring the works by Nancy Bush, Jian Wang and Jim Lamb at Dawson Cole Fine Art. Learn about the fused glass techniques with Melody Topping while checking out new sculpture by Ron Dier and Fitz Maurice’s Passion in Gouache” at Studio Arts Gallery. Seven-Degrees introduces Los Angeles painter-sculptor Alan Bodner and Edenhurst Gallery celebrates its 25th year as dealers in historic early California paintings.

Sandstone Gallery, also marks its 30th year in Laguna, featuring “Out Of The Woods” by Marge Chapman and “Works On Paper” by Lynn Welker.

Artist Eye Laguna Gallery welcomes back featured artist Sharon Jackman, and her hand crafted ceramic art for the month of July.

After 9 p.m., head over to the Sawdust Art Festival and Festival of Arts where you will receive free admission when you present the First Thursdays brochure at each festival’s box office. More information can be found at www.firstthursdaysartwalk.com.

A multitude of galleries are featured, located downtown, along Coast Highway north and south and along Laguna Canyon Road. Expect performances by local musicians and gallery hospitality. Be sure to visit the Laguna Art Museum exhibition “Noguchi: California Legacy” and a Rodin sculpture exhibition at the Laguna College of Art and Design.
