Michael Lewis, of Laguna Beach, earned two second-place finishes in the TCR class of the Pirelli World Challenge, held at Portland International Raceway earlier this month.

Lewis set the third fastest lap in the qualifying session on Friday, July 13, which placed him in the third starting position for Saturday’s race.

Lewis, driver of the No. 98 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai i30 N TCR race car, stayed in third place just behind teammate Mark Wilkins as they worked together to challenge the leader Ryan Eversley.

Wilkins was able to take the top spot and Lewis claimed.

Starting positions in Sunday’s race were set by the fastest laps by each driver the previous day. As a result of setting the fastest lap, Lewis started Sunday’s 31-lap race in pole position. Front row starter Eversley got the jump into turn 1 and held on with Lewis coming in second.

Only four rounds remain in the season, including the next race at Utah Motorsports Campus in Grantsville, Utah, Aug. 10–12.

The races from Portland are scheduled to air on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, July 29, at 3 p.m. PDT.
