The Laguna Beach Rotary Club hosted a record crowd of over 340 guests at its sixth annual Grapes for Grads Wine Tasting, its most successful fundraiser to date.

Attendees included Mayor Toni Iseman, council members Elizabeth Pearson and Kelly Boyd, club president Linda Seville and Rotary 5320 district governor Johrita Solari.

The event funds scholarships for academically strong students at Laguna College of Art & Design and at Laguna Beach High School who are headed to college.

In addition to tastings by dozens of wineries and wine distributors, K’ya Bistro & Bar provided savory snack plates and desserts, and singer Mela Lee and the Alexander Burke Trio performed jazz and acrobatics, while LCAD students offered live demonstrations in painting and sculpture.

There was also silent auction with over 50 items, including a blown glass bowl by local artist John Barber, and Montage Resort’s executive pastry chef Lee Smith created a special cake that resembled the Rotary logo.

The event achieved an 86 percent recycling diversion rate with the help of Michele Clark of Waste Management and the cooperation of the Grapes for Grads volunteers.
