School officials recognized Laguna Beach resident Bruce Hopping, founder of the Kalos Kagathos Foundation, as a long-standing district supporter last month.
Superintendent Sherine Smith presented him with a resolution that enumerated his many community contributions and commitment to supporting fitness.
Hopping, 90, who maintains a strong sense of civic duty, thanked the board and faculty, and particularly high school principal Joanne Culverhouse, for their courtesy and recognition. He described participating in the schools and board meetings, and hosting foreign student exchanges for 40 years.
