Laguna Beach Magazine took home top honors for best city magazine at the Western Publishing Association’s 2012 Maggie Awards last week.

The publication has secured the title two of the three years it entered. The annual awards ceremony honors work over 70 different categories deemed “The Best in the West.”

“It’s a great honor for Laguna Beach Magazine to be chosen by our peers as the best city magazine in the Western U.S. for the second time,” said Steve Zepezauer, chief executive and editorial director, who founded Laguna Beach-based Firebrand Media in 2006. “It’s a true testament to our awesome team and a tribute to the city we celebrate with every issue.”

Finalists in the category included Desert Companion, Marin, Orange Coast, Sactown and Vegas Seven.

Group Editor Micaela Myers, who has been with the magazine since its launch, adds: “The award comes at the perfect time, as we are gearing up to celebrate our five-year anniversary. The magazine continues to evolve and grow, and it’s wonderful to discover more about the amazing people, places and organizations with every new issue.”

Launched in the summer of 2007, Laguna Beach Magazine is produced eight times a year. Firebrand Media LLC also publishes Newport Beach Magazine, Montage Magazine, Bespoke Magazine, Preferred Lifestyles magazine, the Laguna Beach Independent and Newport Beach Independent newspapers, as well as the Irvine Visitors Guide.
