Girls Soccer (9-9-2, 7-1-1)

Rookie head coach Ben Helm was nearly speechless as the Breakers came back at Estancia (6-7-4, 5-2-2) on Monday, Feb. 5, to clip the Eagles 3-2 to capture their second straight league title.

Early in the contest a deflection gave the host Eagles a 1-0 lead, but the Breakers fought back with two first half goals by Jayd Sprague to lead at the intermission. Reilyn Turner added the final score late in the game that was followed by a very late goal for the Eagles just before the final whistle. Breakers completed their league play this past Wednesday with Saddleback (4-12-2, 0-8-1). Playoff brackets will post on Monday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. with Laguna hosting their first round game on Feb. 15.

Breakers are among five league teams battling for the three guaranteed playoff berths this past week as the league season comes to a conclusion. Breakers tied Godinez 1-1 on Jan. 21 and then battled Costa Mesa to a scoreless draw at Mustang Stadium on Friday, Feb. 2. This week Breakers were facing the two hottest teams in the league with Estancia (12-3-5, 3-0-3) on Tuesday and Saddleback (12-7-1, 4-3-1). Breakers will find out on Monday, Feb. 12, if they will play on in the SS CIF Division 4 playoffs.
