Little League Playoffs Underway

The AAA Division playoffs started with Morgan Stanley defeating UPS 13-8.

Nick Carpino started off pitching for Morgan Stanley, and UPS came out strong in the first two innings scoring seven of their eight runs.

Big hits by Connor Sorenson, James Loughlin, Hunter Johnson, Jack Casey and Tanner Mauro brought in three runs in the first. In the second, Will Clark came home when Sorenson hit a single, Tim Loughlin’s double brought in Sorenson, and Johnson’s double had the Loughlin brothers cross the plate. Josh McManus came in to pitch in the second and held UPS at 7, with six strike outs until the fifth when Clark scored on James Loughlin’s single.

Connor Sorenson pitched the first three innings for UPS and held Morgan Stanley to five runs with the help of some great defensive plays. Morgan Stanley scored two in the first. Mason Lebby singled, McManus doubled and both came home on Cole Fink’s single. In the third, Lebby scored on another McManus double, Fink’s double brought in McManus, and Carpino’s single brought in the fifth run. 

Hunter Johnson started off pitching in the fourth for UPS, and Morgan Stanley scored three more runs.  Nolan Smith stole home. Dylan Brashier and Jakob Thornton were on base when McManus hit his third double of the game.

Tim Loughlin, and then Mauro, pitched in the fifth. Carpino, Joseph Sweet, Jackson Yelland, Smith, and Brashier all scored bringing the final tally to 13. The playoffs continue through next week.
