The public is invited to see the creation of a revered sand mandala within the sanctuary of Neighborhood Congregational Church over several days, Oct. 10-16.

Tibetan monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery of India patiently recreate the traditions of this ancient art form. For visitors, it’s an opportunity to experience the tri-cord chanting and teachings of the monks at 340 St. Ann’s Dr.

The opening ceremony takes place Monday, Oct. 10, kicking off a week of cultural exchange, and concludes Sunday, Oct. 16, with the monks joining Sunday Service at 10 a.m. This will include live music, chanting, and the dissolution of the medicine Buddha mandala with a procession to the beach.

Admission is free, though donations are suggested as proceeds help the monastery continue its traditions and culture.
