Two newcomers joined the school district’s administrative team, the district announced this week.
Jeff Dixon was hired as the director of facilities and Amy Kernan as the coordinator of assessment, accountability and special projects. The hires were approved by the school board on Aug. 26.
Dixon’s experience includes school construction management and maintenance, most recently in Lucia Mar Unified School District in Arroyo Grande, Calif. There, he led a $14 million installation of solar panels at seven schools and retrofitting of LED lighting district wide.
“It is important for facilities to be flexible and work with education and technology programs as they evolve over time,” said Dixon, who starts Oct. 13.
Kernan has both teaching and administrative experience, most recently as a principal and director of curriculum and instruction in Oxnard, where she oversaw integration of Common Core math standards in the kindergarten through middle school Ocean View School District.
Kernan began work on Monday, Sept. 15.
