Laguna’s school district began offering monthly drop-in counseling this week for parents of district students enrolled in grades 3-12, who cannot commit to an ongoing parent class.

The classes provide parents an opportunity for interaction with other parents while learning problem-solving techniques for parent and child difficulties.

“As a parent myself, I struggle with everyday decisions regarding what I will allow my sons to do and not to do,” said Irene White, director of special education and student services.

“The drop-in counseling provides a unique opportunity in that it creates a safe environment for parents and caregivers to dialogue about any challenges they may be experiencing while gaining valuable feedback from a trained specialist to help them navigate those challenges,” said school psychologist, Lila Samia.

The classes will be held from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the Susi Q Senior Center, located at 380 Third St.

Future classes are Dec. 17, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 18, May 20 and June 17.
