Pure Light Candle Studios will host the creation of a series of large mandala artworks to benefit local organizations in August in collaboration with Charlotte Backman of Mandala Visions.

The “Many Hands Mandala Project” was birthed with the intention of bringing community members together through collaborative art, while raising awareness and funds for local organizations. The first event and launch party will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m., during Artwalk to benefit the Surfrider Foundation, South Orange County Chapter.

There will be food, drinks, music and an opportunity to kick off the project by participating in this community mandala. Backman will create the mandala on a masonite board composed of over 100 ocean shapes. Participants can unleash their creativity by choosing a piece to color in for a donation of $10 or $20,

Backman will then assemble the pieces and frame it for display at Pure Light. The finished work will be set for auction to benefit the Surfrider Foundation.
