The Laguna Playhouse has hired current City Council member Elizabeth Pearson’s firm, ADworx, to help with outreach and fundraising.
“Elizabeth’s 28 years in the community, her reputation as a leader, and her relationship base in Laguna Beach and throughout Orange County – along with her marketing & fundraising consulting firm’s 17 years of experience – makes her the ideal consultant for us at this juncture of our evolution.” said Karen Wood, the theater’s executive director.
While consulting to the Playhouse, Pearson will be required to recuse herself on any City Council votes related to the Playhouse, including the vote pertaining to the Business Improvement District’s annual grants that are designated to the three major Laguna Beach arts institutions.
“… At a time when the economy is hurting, Laguna’s non-profits have been especially hard-hit,” Pearson said in a letter distributed to some 300 contacts describing the consulting deal. “It is very important that we do all we can to ensure the health and vitality of all of our arts organizations as well as the other non-profit groups that make Laguna Beach so special.”
