Laguna Beach Seniors announced that Cheryl and Carl Post as recipients of its 2014 Legacy Award, which will be presented at the eighth annual Legacy Ball on Saturday, March 15 at Aliso Creek Inn.

During their 40 years as residents, the Posts supported many local organizations and embody the “give where we live” ideal, said a statement from Nadia Babiyi, executive director of the Susi Q Center, where the Posts donated the Cornerstone Wall and the Wellness Room in honor of their mother Rose Conken, a weekly participant in programs. The Wellness Room is used by counselors who provide one-on-one therapy for seniors.

The couple helped remodel the Boys and Girls Club and the Presbyterian Church and in 1992 established Brandy’s Friends Adolescent Treatment Center, which operated for a decade. “We came to realize the power of community in our healing and we really value the importance that community plays in our well-being,” said Ms. Post.

The Legacy Award honors individuals that made a lasting contribution to the quality of life in Laguna Beach. Event chair Ann Quilter will present the award. “These two have truly given something of permanence for the rest of us to enjoy and we are thankful,” she said.
