Providing an interactive and educational “green” themed day for guests, the Sawdust Art Festival will celebrate its sixth Green Day on Saturday, July 20.

Sawdust artists, staff and local organizations will share simple ways of becoming more environmentally aware. Themed activities are planned for 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in various locations around the grounds and are complimentary with admission.

Garden Exchange (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) – Bring in “slips” from your garden, and exchange for other plants to diversify your landscapes. Water-wise and succulent plants will be donated by the Laguna Beach Garden Club. Location: by clock tower near Main Entertainment Deck.

Bee Colony (10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) – Whole Foods Market hosts a collaborative honeycomb structure of recycled cardboard. Children’s Art Spot for ages 4 and older.

Infinity Scarf (10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) – Sawdust artist Sheryl Eberhardt teaches how to recycle a large t-shirt into a scarf. Studio One; ages: 6 to adult.

Wyland Foundation Ocean Conservation Mural (10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) – Participate in this annual collaborative ocean mural project led by Foundation staff. Main Entertainment Deck.

Paint with Vegetables (1-3 p.m.) – Use fruits and vegetables to create produce paint prints. Children’s Art Spot.

Green Model Drawing (1 – 3 p.m.) – Sawdust artist Deborah Paswaters guides figure drawing with live green-clad models. Studio One.

Creative Foliage Recycling (3:30– 5:30 p.m.) – Roberto Romano creates a collage using acrylics, leaves, twigs and seed pods. Studio One.

Spice Painting (3:30 – 5:30 p.m.) – Titillate your senses using cinnamon, pepper corn, bay leaves, cumin and turmeric to create dimensional paintings. Children’s Art Spot.

Throw a Greenware Pot (10 am – 5:30 pm; 7-9 pm) – Visit the Ceramic Center and throw a greenware pot at the potter’s wheel.

The Festival is open 10-10 daily through Sept. 1 at 935 Laguna Canyon Road. Admission: $7.75.
