Schools Offer Classes on Better Parenting

Parents of children 5 to 10 with challenging behaviors can learn parenting skills in a seven-week program offered by the school district.

The program will run seven consecutive Wednesdays, Oct. 8-Nov. 19, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St.

Marriage and family therapist Laura Rivas will lead the workshop.

“Developing our skills is something all of us can benefit from as parents, ” said Irene White, director of special education and student services for LBUSD.

For parents who can’t commit to an ongoing class, 90-minute “drop-in” classes, also led by Rivas at the Susi Q Center, begin Oct. 21, also at 6:30 p.m. Other dates include Nov. 18, Dec. 16, Jan. 20, Feb. 10, March 17, April 21 and May 19.
