A recently-rediscovered collection of 150 black-and-white Polaroid photographs will be showcased in the exhibition, “The Happy Beach Bums from San Onofre,” at the Surfing Heritage Foundation, 110 Calle Iglesia, San Clemente, from Aug. 5 to Oct. 28. Taken by the late Don Davis, the photographs document the culture of the San Onofre beach in the mid-1960s, especially its burgeoning surf culture.
Curated by Steve Wilkings, the exhibition will be accompanied by a print-on-demand book reproducing the original album with essays by Steve Pezman.
