Monday, Feb. 23

Vehicle burglary. 32300 block of Coast Hwy. 7:32 a.m. Rear windows were smashed in four plumbing trucks and their contents of tools plundered.

Burglary. Cliff Dr. 10:12 a.m. A wallet and cellphone together valued at $800 were taken.

Vehicle burglary. 300 block of Cliff Dr. 2:40 p.m. A cell phone, garage door opener and other items were taken from a car.

Grand theft. 300 block of Cliff Dr. 4:29 p.m. A $300 diving regulator left near a parking meter disappeared.

Reckless driving. N. Coast Hwy. 6:41 p.m. Three motorcyclists were reported riding southbound performing wheelies.

Tuesday, Feb. 24

Drug activity. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 8:55 a.m. John Stuhr, 59, of Kansas, was arrested for outstanding warrants and held for $1500 bail.

Warrant arrest. 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 10:50 a.m. Brian Anthony Mason, 37, of Fullerton, was held without bail for a probation violation warrant.

Fraud. 2500 block of S. Coast Way. 3:32 p.m. Someone had fraudulently used another’s Social Security number.

Citizen contact. 200 block of Viejo St. 4:26 p.m. Detectives are investigating an allegation that a father abused his son, whose thighs showed bruises.

Wednesday, Feb. 25

Warrant arrest. 300 block of Broadway St. 11:24 a.m. Khaled Abdelmaksoud, 20, of Fountain Valley, was arrested for five outstanding warrants. Bail was set at $1,500.

Fraud. 600 block of Brooks St. 1:39 p.m. A grandmother fell prey to a telephone con artist who claimed to be an attorney that needed money to obtain her jailed grandson’s release. After acquiescing to three different demands and sending $4,450, she finally grew suspicious when asked for another $4,000.

Grand theft. 1200 block of S. Coast hwy. 3:18 p.m. A painting valued at $5,000 was found missing from a wall.

DUI. S. Coast Hwy. 4:03 p.m. A 66-year-old Mission Viejo man was cited for DUI and held for $2,500 bail.

Petty theft. 20400 block of Laguna Canyon rd. 8:53 p.m. A bike valued at $900 was taken.

Thursday, Feb. 26

Traffic stop. Reef Point. A 37-year-old Huntington Beach man was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.

Fire. 2300 block of Temple Hills Dr. 3:38 a.m. It took firefighters 20 minutes to suppress a fire that began in a garage of a two-story home and threatened to spread into nearby vegetation.

Petty theft. 600 block of N. Coast Hwy. 8:32 p.m. Two males and their female companion swiped four boxes of champagne valued at $327.

Friday, Feb . 27

Traffic stop. Cliff Dr. 3 a.m. A 28-year-old Westminster man was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.

Traffic collision. N. Coast hwy. 4:41 p.m. The roadway was reduced to a single lane for 30 minutes due to a two-car collision where both drivers suffered from complaints of pain.

Traffic stop. 600 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 8:48 p.m. A 25-year-old Lake Elsinore man was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.

Saturday, Feb. 28

Traffic stop. 1400 block of S. Coast Hwy. 1:34 a.m. A 28-year-old Rancho Cucamonga woman was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.

Traffic stop. Wesley Dr. Brett Cameron Clark, 24, of Laguna Niguel, was cited for suspicion of DUI and held on $10,000 bail due to a prior offense.

Petty theft. 600 block of S. Coast Hwy. 6:27 p.m. Benjamin David Hotchkiss, 26, of Alliance, Ohio, was arrested for suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm after police were called about a female shoplifter who took two bottles of wine from a gas station. Police pulled over the pair at Temple Terrace and Thalia Street and in a search of the car discovered a handgun in a bag. The 23-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for misdemeanor theft.

Sunday, March 1

Traffic stop. Bluebird Canyon. A 23-year-old Wildomar woman was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.

Vehicle burglary. 20200 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 9:31 a.m. Three people lost valuables left in cars broken into at a wilderness park trailhead.
