Over spring break, Laguna Presbyterian Church’s youth pastor, Rev. Steve Sweet, led 29 students and seven adults on the 15th annual Molokai Mission trip.
The students cleared non-native plants, worked in a bird sanctuary and planted trees, reported Laura Yale, the church’s middle school director.
“My favorite part of the trip was going to Halawa Valley and learning about Hawaiian culture,” said Kyle McCombs, a Laguna Beach High School freshman. “I really enjoyed how we got to ‘fish for rocks’ and build a dam to irrigate the taro farm.”
