The Laguna Beach High School surf team made the most of three-foot waves to win 67-43 against St. Margaret’s during a Scholastic Surf Series contest in Huntington Beach on Sunday, Feb. 21.

We started out the day with Team competition. Laguna Beach High school was up against St Margaret’s. Everyone surfed really well as a team and did their part, winning 67 to 43. We also had several Individual Division Winners.

The surf was in the 3ft range and a little tough, but everyone made the most of it. We needed some of our surfers to surf double duty.

In boys shortboard, Jake Levine and Travis Booth were ripping all day with Jake edging out Travis in the final. Meanwhile Vann Allen surfed strong all day; he just missed the final to finish in seventh.

Jake and Jameson Roller were among the two division surfers, making the longboard final. Again there was a tie and a count back with Jameson taking third and Jake fourth.

In the girls longboard, Anika Pitz won once again, her third in a row. In the girls shortboard, Claire Kelly took second, edged out by St Margaret’s Kelly Smith, who also lives in Laguna Beach.

The bodyboard final saw Spencer Davis taking the win.

The team surfs next on March 6 and the state championships take place April 16 and 18.

Thanks to parents for their continued support, led by team mom Lori Levine.
