Massimo Lucidi, a 14-year-old junior road racing cyclist and freshman at Laguna Beach High School, placed third overall among 79 riders in the Southern California Nevada Cycling Association.
Massimo currently races road bikes in the 15-16 age group of the Rokform Junior Development team in Irvine. He won first place in his age group at the Nine Mile Canyon Omnium, a 16-mile, 5000-foot climb, and fourth in an afternoon race on state Highway 395 in Pearsonville, Calif.
Massimo also placed first in his age group and fastest overall among juniors at the GMR Challenge in Glendora, Calif., a time trial that includes a section of road to Mt. Baldy. The nine-mile race ascends 2,300 feet in a race against the clock.
The Rokform junior cycling team earned recognition for the third time in consecutive years by USA Cycling as junior team of the year.
Massimo has signed a contract to race on the Rokform Junior Elite “B” Racing Team next year.
