Girls Volleyball (4-5, 1-0)

Laguna’s quest for their 12th straight league title got underway last Thursday, Sept. 22, at Dugger Gym when the Breakers swept Godinez (6-6, 0-1) 25-17, 25-12, 25-17 to win their 101st consecutive league victory. Everyone on the squad saw plenty of action with Lexi McKeown’s seven kills and 15 digs aiding the first two set wins. In the final set, Cambria Hall was deadly with 10 kills and Hallie Carballo had 15 digs to lead Laguna.

This past week, Laguna hosted Costa Mesa (5-7) on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and traveled to Saddleback (3-10) on Thursday, Sept. 28. Next week Laguna is at Estancia (10-2) on Tuesday and Calvary (10-5) on Thursday.

 

Boys Sand Volleyball 2-0

Breakers received a forfeit win over Edison last week and faced Orange Lutheran this past Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Grant Street courts. The re-match of last year’s championship with Saddleback Valley Christian match is slated for Oct. 6 at Doheny.

Breakers defeated Huntington Beach for the title in 2014 and finished runner-up to Saddleback Valley Christian last season. Format includes five, two-man matches and one, four-man match.
