Locals Venture into Children’s Lit

The age-old question “what do you want to be when you grow up” may be applicable to any age group, however Laguna Beach entrepreneur, Barron Ressler, has his sights set on a younger crowd with aspirations of a wide range of vocations.

His newly released children’s book series, “When I Grow Up I Want To Be…” features vocations many children dream about – a fire fighter, a teacher, a soldier, a doctor – all combining engaging elements of storytelling with real world facts and information. Both educational and fun, the fully illustrated book series serves to introduce children to the people in their communities who serve others through their vocations.

Ressler’s newly formed company, Wigu Publishing officially launches Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Orange County Children’s Book Festival at Costa Mesa’s Orange Coast College.

Each book takes its readers on a journey of discovery, exploring how one finds their vocation, learns the skills necessary, and how they excel and grow within their chosen field.

“My goal through these books is to inspire and enlighten the leaders and thinkers of tomorrow to career opportunities and to help them envision themselves as productive leaders in their communities – all told through the eyes of young boys and girls,” states Ressler, who spent a successful career in magazine and newspaper publishing but ventured into the world of children’s writing and publishing as a new challenge.
