Zane Cornwell of Boy Scout Troop 35 in Laguna Beach earned scouting’s highest rank of Eagle Scout on June 10. He is the son of Kelly and Shelley Arends Cornwell.

While in scouting, Zane participated in many camping adventures, capping them off with a week-long backpacking trip at the National Boy Scout Reservation in Philmont, N.M. Zane’s patrol won top honors at the Orange County Jamboree; he earned 23 merit badges and provided over 200 hours of community service along the trail to Eagle Scout.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Zane raised money, designed, constructed and delivered a large trophy and storage armoire for the Laguna Beach Little League. The armoire is located in Riddle Field’s board room.

Troop 35 is chartered by Laguna Presbyterian Church. Doug Rubino is the Scoutmaster.

Zane, who will be graduating this week from LBHS, will be following his passion to fly, attending the professional aviation program at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
