The citizens of Laguna Beach deserve the opportunity to vote on the proposed $50 million village entrance garage.
We have reached a point in the process where there is the appearance that the council is willing to ignore the will of the people in favor of a handful of well-connected proponents in the immediate vicinity of the garage.
Unfortunately the general public will have the ultimate responsibility for this huge debt. They will shoulder any shortfall in revenue. They will also certainly sacrifice the funding of other projects that would benefit the entire community.
One way or another, we must secure a vote of the people.
