Baseball (4-3, 11-6)

Laguna completed the 38th Annual Anaheim Lion’s Tournament with a 4-1 record losing only to Kelso (7-1) on March 31. Breakers then defeated Fullerton 5-0, Buena Park 3-1, concluding with a 20-1 win over Sage Hill. Laguna concluded their week of baseball with a 10-9 league win over Costa Mesa (0-7, 2-14) on Thursday, April 5.

Boys Golf (2-2, 3-10)

Laguna split a pair of non-league matches last week defeating Sage Hill 193-217 on April 4 but losing 200-224 to San Clemente the following day. Play resumes on April 17 with Estancia,

 

Softball (1-1, 9-5)

Breakers are off until April 17 when they travel to Godinez for the showdown for second place.  The league season runs to May 10 with a total of eight games remaining.

 

Swimming

Laguna resumes league dual meets on April 18 but the big meet remains on April 25 with Costa Mesa at the Laguna Community Pool. Breakers are hoping to wrap up their fifth consecutive league title for both Boys and Girls swimming.

 

Boys Tennis (5-0, 6-8)

Breakers split a pair of Southern Section CIF Division 3 non-league matches last week upsetting Sage Hill (# 3) 10-8 on Tuesday but falling to unranked Cerritos 13-5 on Thursday. Laguna resumes league play at Godinez on April 19 and play concludes with Saddleback on April 19 and Costa Mesa on April 26. Playoff brackets will be released on May 7 with the Breakers hosting their first round match on Wednesday, May 9.

 

Track & Field

Breakers concluded their league dual meet season with a sweep of Costa Mesa on Thursday, April 5, at Hulst Oval. The victories put Laguna second in the dual meet portion of the league races with the actual league champion to be determined to a blend of results from league finals and dual meets. Prelims will be run on April 30 and the finals on May 3 at Laguna.

Girls – Laguna Beach 79  Costa Mesa 33

 Event Winners: 100M Tessa Hopper, 800M Marina Paul, 100 & 300 Hurdles Darby Winson,

1600 Carlee Ressler, 3200 Audrey Rodgirez, Long Jump Marlee Grosher, and Triple Jump Janie Crawford.

Mustangs still hold the series edge, leading the boys 16-8-4 and the girls 16-8-1.

 

Boys Volleyball (4-0, 14-7)

Breakers fell to OC’s # 1 team, Huntington Beach 25-17, 25-14, 25-19 last Wednesday at the Oiler’s gym as Laguna could not keep up with the Sunset League squad.  Weston Barnes was the Breaker kill leader with 14 while Austin Hillemann added seven. Huntington advanced to 11-3 on the season and now leads the all-time best-of-five set series, 15-13.  Laguna is off until April 17 when league play resumes and the Breakers travel to the South Coast League first place team, Dana Hills, for their last non-league match on April 20.
