Laguna Ocean Foundation is offering a tidewater docent training class Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point.

The program offers education about the near shore habitats including ecosystems, tide-pool creatures, the laws protecting them, and the reasons behind those laws.

To learn more about the program, contact [email protected] or visit LagunaOceanFoundation.org.

For those unsure of changes to laws under the Marine Life Protection Act, which took affect Jan. 1, a new pamphlet detailing the protected areas of the South Coast can be found at numerous locations throughout Laguna Beach including the Visitors Bureau and Lifeguard headquarters. They also point out where one can fish inside Laguna Beach with detailed coordinates.
