The eight-day 16th annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational begins Sunday, Oct. 12, with 35 artists painting on location at Treasure Island Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

With the exception of the 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, soirée at The Ranch, all other events are free. See the full schedule at lagunapleinair.org.

Each year Laguna Beach serves as an outdoor painting studio as invited artists compete for prestigious prizes and participate in public paint-outs, demonstrations and discussions, and educational events. Proceeds help support the organization.

 

Hop Aboard for a Cosmic Voyage

Avran Art+Design gallery exhibits a joint show this month featuring new works by several international artists and hosts an artist reception Friday, October 10, from 7-10 p.m., 540 S. Coast Highway.

Garden Themed Art Classes Take Root

Advance registration is required for “Garden as Muse” art workshops offered once monthly, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16., at Laguna Nursery, 1370 S. Coast Highway.

In the collaboration between the nursery and Laguna Outreach for Community Arts, participants may enjoy one or many classes, as instructor Hedy Buzan introduces new mediums each month.

Artman Gallery Takes the Show on the Road

JoAnne Artman Gallery of Laguna Beach has been selected as an exhibitor at the inaugural Art Silicon Valley/ San francisco, taking place Oct. 9 -12 at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo.

The fair will present 75 galleries and art institutions, representing 750 artists from 42 countries.

Artman will showcase works by eight artists.
