Art Cube Unfolds for Dubin

Local artist Jorg Dubin’s “American Cultural Icons” series opens at Art Cube gallery for Thursday’s Art Walk on Aug. 1, 266 Forest Ave.

“I wanted to create an interesting surface that was very tactile and at the same time could be enjoyed from several different perspectives. From a distance, the dots create a distinct image of the person depicted in the portrait. As you approach the painting the dots devolve into a rather abstracted array of seemly unrelated patterns,” said the artist’s statement.

Artman Gallery Lifts the Curtain

When gallerist JoAnne Artman thinks of artist James Verbicky, she wonders who is behind the curtain.

Verbicky never ceases to amaze her by always looking to challenge himself and the viewer.  As a self-taught artist, Verbicky continues to experiment, giving viewers a peek behind that curtain.

The gallery hosts a reception for the artist Thursday, Aug. 1, during Artwalk, at 326 N. Coast Highway, 6 to 9 p.m.
