The Redfern Gallery, 1540 S. Coast Highway, will host a one-man show and book signing by Jon Crosby, author of “Coves and Beaches of Laguna,” on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 4-7 p.m.
Cosby was instrumental in helping to form the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. “The beaches and coves of Laguna have such a deep and personal connection with me I wanted to find a way to convey the incredibly unique look and feel of each and every one of them. I felt this definitive body of work should be published in a book so even after the paintings have found their homes people [could] enjoy the collection as a whole,” said Crosby.
‘Ren and Stimpy’ Creator Animates Exhibition
Fans of television’s “The Ren and Stimpy Show” can meet the show’s animator, John Kricfalusi, at Laguna College of Art
and Design’s downtown gallery, 225 Forest Ave., during Laguna Beach’s First Thursday Art Walk, 6-9 p.m. on Dec. 5.
“The Art of John K,” an exhibition of original drawings, stills, storyboards, animation cels, dolls, and more is on view through Dec. 28. The show was curated by LCAD’s animation chair, Dave Kuhn; Kricfalusi’s assistant, Arualyn When; and LCAD’s gallery director, Andrea Harris-McGee.
Lunch, Artists, Fashion, and Fun
The Artists Fund at Festival of Arts is presenting a luncheon and fashion show on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 11:30 a.m. at Tivoli Too, 777 Laguna Canyon Rd. The fundraiser will feature live models wearing clothing from Chico’s, as well as silent auctions for fine art and gift baskets. Admission including lunch is $30.
Those unable to attend, may participate in a special opportunity drawing to win an original Tom Swimm painting. Opportunity tickets, $25, are available now through Nov. 30, and at the luncheon. The drawing will take place during the event.
Proceeds benefit the new Scholarship Program of The Artists Fund, providing opportunities for artists to enhance their professional career through classes, professional support and conferences.

Wanna-Be Gallerists Showcase Their Work
The 12th annual collaboration between Laguna College of Art & Design and First Thursday’s Art Walk member galleries culminates on Dec. 5 from 6-9 p.m. when 15 Laguna Beach galleries, volunteering as mentors, will feature original works by fine arts seniors.
The students will be present at each gallery exhibiting their work, which is available for sale. Sale proceeds will benefit student artists and a scholarship fund.
The program begun by Professor Robin Fuld pairs senior students in the Fine Arts Professional Studies class with First Thursday’s professional art galleries and is designed to demonstrate the business of operating a gallery and professionally exhibiting artwork.
