Board Perk Abuses a Public Resource

Thursday’s Brian Bromberg concert at the Festival of Arts was a truly fine event.

It’s a shame that I couldn’t hear the music because I was pushed off to the side in a plastic chair.

Why?

Because FOA board members reserved every single table directly in front of the stage for themselves.

They even advertised it, putting little reserved signs reading “Board Members” on all the covered tables in a roped off area guarded by security personnel.

Isn’t it great that our city offers a park, owned by the citizens of Laguna Beach, to a local non-profit organization with board members so dedicated to public service?

How generous the board is to allow the paying tourists to actually sit and listen to all the other bands (that aren’t as popular).

I’ve lived in Laguna for 26 years, and I’m offended that the board of FOA treats the festival like their own private party.
