As expected, fourth-ranked Laguna is 3-0 so far in the playoffs and traveled this past Wednesday four hours (178 miles) to Santa Ynez for the Division 4 semifinals on the Pirate’s courts.

Breakers had made the trek back in 2011 for a similar match and came away with a big victory. Laguna has advanced to the D4 semifinals six of the past 10 years with five D4 finals appearances but no titles.  If Laguna can escape # 9 Santa Ynez on May 16 they will face either # 10 Carpinteria, # 2 Bolsa Grande or Redlands East Valley on May 18 at the Claremont Club.

Wednesday, May 9, fourth seed Breakers used their bench and easily beat Wilson/Hacienda Heights 13-5 on the Laguna courts Friday, May 11. At the University of Redlands, they defeated Yucaipa 11-7.

Monday, May 14, they swamped Laguna Blanca from Hope Ranch/Santa Barbara 15-3. Mason Lebby and Andrew Johnson had little resistance in sweeping their singles matches with the fifth-ranked Owls while coach Rick Conkey was able to do some shuffling in the doubles and still take seven of nine sets.
